Tijuana Xolos Earn Playoff Berth
The Tijuana Xolos have earned a spot in the 2016 Apertura postseason following a win over Chiapas FC on Saturday. The Liga MX side has three matches left of the regular season as they head on the road to face Toluca next Sunday.
Soccer News: Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles have clinched a spot in the LIGA MX 2016 Apertura postseason with three regular season games remaining. Coach Miguel Herrera’s squad earned a “Liguilla” spot after Pumas UNAM lost to Tigres UANL Sunday in Week 14. The Xolos have 30 points with a 9-2-3 record after beating Chiapas FC 2-0 on Saturday at Estadio Caliente.
Herrera’s team has beaten Morelia, Guadalajara, Leon, Pumas UNAM, Queretaro, Atlas and Chiapas at home. The Xolos have also earned points at Cruz Azul, Santos, Necaxa, Monterrey and Pachuca.
The Xoloitzcuintles clinched a playoff spot with 30 points this season. Club Tijuana continues to work with their game-by-game approach for the rest of the season as the prepare to take on Toluca, Tigres and Veracruz in the coming weeks.
The top eight teams reach the LIGA MX playoffs that consist of quarterfinals, semifinals and finals home-and-home two-game series.
