Youth Soccer Player Development At Xolos
The focus on soccer in Mexico has existed for generations and with many Americans crossing the borders to watch the Xolos’ first team play soccer, the academy’s ambitious plans for development are attracting attention. Here is the latest news on the Xolos youth soccer academy.
Youth Soccer News: Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles youth teams earned points at home against CD Toluca Friday at Estadio Caliente.
The Under-17 team beat the Diablos Rojos 4-0 in the Week 17 match. Coach Ildefonso Mendoza’s team saw goals from Cesar Rosales (10th minute), Ettson Ayon (13th and 90th) and Jesus Ramos (54th).
The win gives the Xoloitzcuintles a 9-6-2 record with 35 points to end the regular season.
The Under-20 team also finished the 2018 Clausura Friday but with a 1-1 tie against Toluca. That gave the Xoloitzcuintles one point in the standings, finishing with a 5-5-7 record and 22 points.
Fernando Arce (39th) and Vladimir Moragrega (59th) scored for Club Tijuana. Diego Abella (67th) and Brian Lopez (75th) found the net for the visitors.
The Xoloitzcuintles youth teams will head into the offseason looking to prepare for the 2018 Apertura.
