Commack Fire Take the Boys-Under-13 Arch Capital Group Cup Championship
New York Youth Soccer News: Playing futsal during the past few winters helped Commack with their possession game in leading them to lifting the Arch Capital Group Cup
The Commack Fire of the Long Island Junior Soccer League (LIJSL) burned FC Select Black of the Cosmopolitan Junior Soccer League (CJSL), 5-1, to win the Boys-Under-13 Arch Capital Group Cup title. This Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association (ENYYSA) final was played at the Peter Collins Soccer Park in Plainview on June 11.
“We were a little nervous in the beginning but the boys settled down and played our possession game,” commented Commack coach Mike Davicino. “We played with a lot of poise and passion, connected passes, finished opportunities and were clinical in front of the goal. Playing futsal during the past few winters really helped us with our possession.”
Matthew Davicino scored two goals and Jackson Masters, Dillon Mortensen and Max Stein each scored one to pace Commack.
FC Select Black received the Howard Rubenstein Sportsmanship Award as determined by the game officials. Now living in Kentucky, Mr. Rubenstein was President of ENYYSA from 1980 to 1984.
