Soccer Icon Gets New Title
Soccer News: It’s no secret that the world finds LA Galaxy legend David Beckham ridiculously good looking, but not even Beckham was expecting the honor that he received on Tuesday.
The 40-year-old retired soccer star was unveiled as People Magazine‘s “Sexiest Man Alive” for 2015 during an episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live. Video conferencing in from London, a bashful Beckham received a trophy (a golden mirror) while the cover flashed on the screen beside him.
“I mean it’s the best moment of my career,” Beckham joked. “I can’t believe it.”
The British heartthrob, who turned 40 years old this year, is a retired soccer superstar, husband and dad of four.
Beckham also posted his reaction on Facebook: “I thought I was past my sell by date but thanks to People.com for the accolade and the compliment! I always feel a little shy when receiving these Awards, though it will make my Mum happy. This one the kids will laugh at, as they see what Daddy looks like in the morning!”
People Magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive issue hits newsstands on Friday.
