NPSL Soccer News: One of Chattanooga FC’s brightest young stars will showcase his skills against the best of the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) at the 3rd annual Player Showcase this weekend. Midfielder David Perez joins a group of talented players from across the NPSL for a chance to compete in front of coaches and scouts from the next level.
The showcase will be held at the Stubhub Center in Carson, CA, home of five-time MLS Cup winning LA Galaxy. Participants were selected from all across the country and are not hampered by registration fees or travel expenses, which are covered by the NPSL.
“Providing a stage for the best soccer talent in the NPSL is something we see that strengthens the league and gives these players a platform to play at the next level” says Kenny Farrell, Chairman of the NPSL Pro Combine. “We have a big stage for these young athletes and are expecting nearly 50 professional scouts, agents and coaches to be at the combine. It is a tribute the NPSL who are truly invested in their players and player development.”
Perez, or “DP” as he’s known by the teammates and fans, is a Chattanooga area native and senior at Lee University. 2016 was his first season with CFC, where he helped the team earn its sixth Southeast Conference Championship.
“This is a huge opportunity for DP,” says Sean McDaniel, GM for Chattanooga FC. “David will be playing in front of all the right scouts and coaches who will be able to help him take the next step in the soccer career. He has the speed and talent to go as far as he wants to go, and this showcase is a great step for him. Naturally, having a CFC player selected in the showcase is great for the team, too. We’re proud to have David represent us in California, and we know that he’ll make us proud.”
