USWNT gears up for the 2025 SheBelieves Cup with a dynamic 23-player roster, blending veteran leadership and rising stars in pursuit of their sixth consecutive title.
Emma Hayes Names 23-Player USWNT Roster for 2025 SheBelieves Cup
The U.S. Women’s National Team is set to compete in the 2025 SheBelieves Cup, and head coach Emma Hayes has announced the 23-player roster for the prestigious tournament. Celebrating its 10th edition, the SheBelieves Cup will take place in three major U.S. cities—Houston, Texas (Feb. 20), Glendale, Arizona (Feb. 23), and San Diego, California (Feb. 26).
This tournament is not only a key test for the USWNT as they prepare for future international competitions, but it also serves as an inspiration for young soccer players nationwide. With some of the best talent in the world competing, youth players can watch and learn from their role models, seeing firsthand the dedication, skill, and teamwork it takes to play at the highest level. As Hayes continues her journey leading the U.S. squad, this SheBelieves Cup represents a new era for the team — one that young athletes will be watching closely as they dream of one day stepping onto the field themselves.
Fun Fact: Emma Hayes was appointed the head coach of the U.S. Women’s National Team on November 14, 2023. She officially began her tenure in May 2024 after concluding her responsibilities with England’s Chelsea FC. Hayes was incredibly successful as the head coach of Chelsea FC Women, cementing her legacy as one of the most excellent managers in women’s soccer ever. She took charge of the English women’s soccer team in 2012 and led the club to unprecedented dominance, winning an impressive series of trophies and titles:
- 6x Women’s Super League (WSL) Titles – 2015, 2017-18, 2019-20, 2020-21, 2021-22, 2022-23
- 5x FA Cups – 2015, 2017-18, 2020-21, 2021-22, 2022-23
- 2x FA Women’s League Cups – 2019-20, 2020-21
- 1x Community Shield – 2020
- UEFA Women’s Champions League Finalist – 2020-21 (first in club history)

With a blend of experienced veterans and fresh talent, Hayes’ squad includes 21 field players and two goalkeepers, with 10 players making their tournament debut. The USA has won the past five SheBelieves Cup titles and aims for a sixth consecutive victory.
“This team is continuing to grow, and I’m impressed with the commitment of our player pool to improve both individually and collectively,” said Hayes. “With many players at the start of their club preseasons, we’ll manage workloads, but at the same time, we want to maximize our time together. This tournament presents an excellent challenge against three top teams, and we’re excited to test ourselves while continuing to evolve.”
A Roster Built for Success
Hayes’ squad is stacked with talent, featuring a perfect balance of seasoned leaders and promising newcomers. Olympic gold medalists Lindsey Heaps (formerly Horan), Crystal Dunn, Emily Sonnett, Lynn Biyendolo (formerly Williams), and Tierna Davidson bring invaluable experience, while the inclusion of four uncapped players — Claire Hutton, Michelle Cooper, Gisele Thompson, and Tara McKeown — marks an exciting new chapter for the team’s future.

The tournament will also be historic as Gisele and Alyssa Thompson become just the third pair of sisters to be named to a USWNT roster, following in the footsteps of the Fair and Mewis sisters.

For Houston Dash goalkeeper Jane Campbell and forward Yazmeen Ryan, this year’s SheBelieves Cup will be extra special, as they can represent the USA in their home stadium, Shell Energy Stadium, in the tournament opener against Colombia.
The squad is also rich with international experience, featuring 16 NWSL players and seven competing abroad, including U.S. stars who will feature in the UEFA Women’s Champions League quarterfinals in March.
SheBelieves Cup: A Legacy of Excellence
Since its inception in 2016, the SheBelieves Cup has been more than just a tournament—it’s been a movement. As the tournament returns to its traditional six-match format, the USA will take on Japan (#8 FIFA ranking), Australia (#15), and Colombia (#21), all of whom competed in the 2024 Paris Olympics.

he competition will be fierce, with every match promising high-intensity battles and world-class talent. The tournament winner will be determined by total points, with tiebreakers in place for goal difference, goals scored, and head-to-head results.
