Ronaldinho Gaucho has made his way back to the Camp Nou as he signs a partnership with the Catalan club as a global ambassador. The Brazilian legend will attend global events representing the club as well as assist in FC Barcelona Foundation activities throughout the year.
Soccer News: In the Presidential Box at the Camp Nou, president Josep Maria Bartomeu and Ronaldinho finalized an agreement in which the former Barça star will represent FC Barcelona as a global ambassador at events around the world.
Ronaldinho will also become a member of the FC Barcelona Legends, the team of former players helping to build the Barça brand and spread the club’s values around the world by participating in soccer games.
As well as this, and via the FCBEscola, the club and Ronaldinho’s soccer academies will work together both in terms of the brand and possible associations. The former Barça player will also take part in FC Barcelona Foundation activities and will feature in the Masia 360 project.
Statement by Josep Maria Bartomeu, president of FC Barcelona:
Ronaldinho is a legend. When he came to Barça he made a name for himself around the world and he brought us success and admiration worldwide.
Ronaldinho also has a lot to offer us in terms of the FCBEscola soccer schools around the world. We want him to help us teach children and for them to learn from him, most of all from his footballing qualities but also as a person. He is a person who has very similar values to those that Barça hold and he has a winning mentality.
Statement by Ronaldinho, ambassador of FC Barcelona:
I am excited about coming home. I have no words to express the gratitude I feel towards the Club, the Directors and everyone for the invitation. I have always felt like an ambassador for Barça, as people associated my name with FC Barcelona. There are few people in the world who can say that they are ambassadors for Barça around the world.
Messi is who he is because he is the same person as when he started out, he has never changed. That is his strength and he still has a long road ahead. It is fantastic to have been a part of his first steps.I think Barça are doing well, they are the best team in the world and I am sure they can win everything again.
