NPSL Southwest Conference Champions Return For Second Season
Looking to spend some time in the gorgeous Southern California weather this Saturday? Come out and support your local NPSL team the FC Force.
FC Force of the National Premier Soccer League’s Southwest Conference will hold its first match of 2015 at 5 p.m. Saturday, April 4 vs. Temecula FC. The match will be played at Olympian High School, located at 1925 Magdalena Ave, Chula Vista, CA 91913.
“The vision of FC Force is to be the premier soccer team in California,” said Head Coach Diego Terry. “We are committed to providing quality soccer and fostering partnerships with community members and fans through positive and entertaining play.”
Tickets for children over 6 years of age and students are $5 and can be purchased at the gate. Adult tickets are $10. Seniors and military personnel receive discounted pricing, with tickets at just $3.
FC Force is based in San Diego’s South County. In its first season, the expansion FC Force won the Southwest Conference title in dominating fashion with a 12-1-1 record, and earned NPSL’s #2 seed in the West Region playoffs.
We exceeded expectations, and overcame a lot of challenges along the way,” said Terry. “I am very proud of the hard work by the players. Now, we will build on our successes and strengthen our roster through the upcoming tryouts.”
Last year, FC Force presented an entertaining, well-balanced attack led by Sergio Villalva, Alfredo Marcq Jr., and Cesar Romero. Each happened to score in the season-ending 3-2 victory over the San Diego Flash. A natural rivalry has begun among the two San Diego-based clubs, which benefits both teams.
“San Diego Flash has a long, proud tradition, and we are a young, up-and-coming franchise. This rivalry is good for us and the NPSL,” said Terry.
Terry, who hails from Argentina, is known for having starred for Racing Club, the Argentina National Futsal team, the San Diego Sockers, and La Raza Monterrey. He also served as head coach of the former Revolucion Tijuana professional indoor soccer team.
