Strong Southern California Soccer Club — F.C. Golden State — Joins the NPSL
As the weather warms up — the next soccer season starts to roll around. The NPSL is getting ready for a great season with new expansion teams across the USA — Here is one of the lastest youth soccer teams to enter into the NPSL – the highly respected and well known FC Golden State
The National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) — the largest established men’s soccer league in the United States with 96 teams competing across the country in 2017 — is proud to announce that the Glendora, California based F.C. Golden State has joined the league as an expansion team.
F.C. Golden State will compete in the West Region’s Southwest Conference — a hotbed of soccer in the USA.
“We are excited to see the West Region continue to expand with F.C. Golden State in the Greater Los Angeles market,” NPSL Chairman Joe Barone said. “It’s wonderful to see the NPSL continue to attract such strong organizations as additions to its current footprint in Southern California.”
The leadership of the team will include Director of Football Alex Lujan and Head Coach Robert Friedland. Lujan and Friedland will also head up the PDL squad.
“We have a reputation for running a professional level program and fielding high-quality teams,” Lujan added. “We believe this league will allow us to do so earlier in the year with a longer season kicking off in March.”
FC Golden State will play home games at Rio Hondo College in Whittier, CA. The soccer-specific facility has recently installed a new full-sized artificial playing surface to complement its existing amenities.
“Our goal is to compete with the talented teams in the West Region and hopefully have the opportunity to be playing in mid-to-late July in the playoffs,” Friedland concluded.
