New Soccer Season brings a rebranding to Arsenal FC & 4S Ranch Youth Soccer
SoccerToday’s Diane Scavuzzo spoke with San Diego Force FC’s Director of Coaching Jose Ocampo and coach Paul Currie on their shared passion for training youth soccer players.
Youth Soccer News: San Diego Force FC has kicked off — bringing together Arsenal FC and 4S Ranch Youth Soccer into a new era and with a new name.
San Diego Force FC is an outstanding San Diego County youth soccer club for boys & girls under the same leadership as Arsenal Soccer — with Jose Ocampo as the Director of Coaching.
Centered in the 4S Ranch area, it serves the community and surrounding areas, providing high level coaching with strong vision.
The force behind the club is a well known leader in player development. Approximately 4 years ago, in 2013, Ocampo joined the 4S Ranch program. Now, as the SD Force FC takes off, Ocampo and his brothers have earned the trust of the community and is highly respected for guiding his players to victories both on and off the field.
Ocampo’s focus is on developing a player’s passion for the game, as well as their skill.
Ocampo knows what it is like to be a competitive youth soccer player — he grew up playing at the area’s local clubs; Carlsbad Wave, Surf SC and Nomads SC. On the collegiate level, Ocampo played at UCSD and semi-professionally, for the San Diego Top Guns — internationally, he played for Chivas de Guadalajara Reservas and Bachilleres de Guadalajara Reservas in Div 1A.
“At SD Force FC, our players believe in high level coaching,” said Ocampo. “Out goal is to always get players on the ball as much as possible — and, it is about enjoying the game. We have high expectations for ourselves, our club and our players.”
Joined recently by former professional soccer player and accomplished youth soccer coach Paul Currie, Ocampo is busy growing the youth soccer club. Currie is the new Director of Boys at SD Force FC.
Currie, and his brother Dave, both came over to SD Force FC from Surf SC and are dedicated to developing technical and tactical awareness in youth players — and creating a positive environment where players want to learn and thrive.
“At SD Force FC, we are creating a real academy-style environment with a player development focus — and, giving our players lifetime tools,” says Ocampo.
“And, these tools will help them deal with the highs and lows of life,” said Currie.
“Being a brilliant player is the ticket to playing soccer in college — not necessarily being part of a big name, huge youth soccer club,” says Currie.
“We are proud that all of our kids want to come to practice and train,” says Ocampo. “Our connection to these kids is strong — and I am inspired when I see them smile.”
“It is not about the results or the score of a game over the weekend. Yes, we want to win but what is important is that we want to see our players strive to be better. We want to see them want to do better next time,” says Currie.
“Our parents are very wonderful, and many of them understand that player development takes time. Everyone here enjoys watching our kids develop their talent,” said Ocampo.
SD Force FC teams predominately compete in the Presidio League and its Developmental Academy (San Diego Development Academy or SDDA).
Elite teams participate in the Southern California Developmental Soccer League (SCDSL).
The youth soccer club plays at the 4S Soccer Complex as well as the neighborhood Poway schools.
