Billy Garton’s Team Win Albion Cup
Former world class professional Manchester United soccer player Billy Garton knows how important it is to develop players and that winning is the outcome of great training and practice. With years of experience being a professional player turned youth coach in the Southern California area, Garton has a legacy of accomplishments and success of the field. With a real connection to his players, Garton is always very proud of their accomplishments. Just recreantly his DMCV Sharks BU12 team became 2014 Albion Development Showcase Champions.
Held in January, the Albion SC Development Showcase Tournament is for U8-U13 players and teams to showcase their abilities. The DMCV Sharks team did just that.
“Boys won Albion showcase beating Albion 1-0 in the final, never conceded a goal all weekend and winning all four tournament matches,” said Garton. “The boys were also the SCDSL flight one League winners.”
Playing in the U12 Super Group, the Del Mar Carmel Valley Sharks team competed agains CZ Elite Pasadena, Beach FC, TVSA Hawks Academy, United Fc, Nomads Academy, San Diego Surf SC, Albion SC among other teams on their road to victory.
Garton enjoys coaching youth players. “The boys are playing a fantastic brand of soccer at present and developing quickly into a great team , they are responding to higher order soccer sessions and skills that are beyond their years but are implementing them successfully in games.”
Fun Fact: Cal South has many prestigious coaches, highly talented teams and players in its association — and, Cal South is proud of helping train many of the U.S. Men’s National Team roster for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa – 26% were Cal South alumni.
