Youth Soccer News: New Jersey Youth Soccer recently hosted its 31st Annual NJYS Awards Dinner presented by RWJBarnabas Health, where many players, coaches and members of the soccer community were celebrated at the Pines Manor in Edison, N.J. Among the honorees that night was Harrison Futbol Club, which was selected as the 2018 NJYS Recreation Program of the Year.
“Success is no accident,” said John Guevara of Harrison Futbol Club. “All of our hard work is for the kids. Soccer is a great way of bringing families together to relieve stress and enjoy a wonderful sport.”
Harrison Futbol Club is a non-profit organization that was originally established in 1893 and began operating its youth program in the spring of 2015. The club maintains a mission to develop the individual player along with each respective team through its four levels of development, which begins at the recreation level. Harrison Futbol Club defines success as continued player interest in the sport of soccer, as well as the overall improvement of its players, coaches, and teams.
“Thanks to the club’s leaders, Harrison FC recreation soccer program has continued to thrive,” said Nelson Ramirez, NJYS Recreation Commissioner.
“Their enthusiasm, passion, and commitment to provide a safe and enjoyable experience have been the constants that make up the soul of the club.”
Dedicated to its surrounding community, Harrison Futbol Club has received a significant amount of support from local leaders. Michael T. Dolaghan, 4th Ward Councilmember, and Laurence Bennett, 3rd Ward Councilmember, are among the prominent group of individuals who have remained strong supporters of the club.
