Two Internationals SC Teams Finish as 2018 Super Y League National Champions
The 2018 Super Y League Finals took place from Dec. 7-11 and featured 120 teams from across the nation competing at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. Celebrating the Super Y League’s 20th Anniversary Season, the competition was fierce and the Champions deserve congratulations.
The Internationals SC U13 and U14 teams finished as national champions at the Super Y League Finals at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.
“This was a total team effort from our groups,” Internationals SC Founder, President, and Director of Coaching Zdravko Popovic said.
“They showed tremendous heart and determination to battle through the five-day event and some very tough games. It is an amazing accomplishment to win two Super Y League National Championships and a memory these girls will never forget.”
The U13s finished with a 5-0-0 record, including 21 goals for, 2 goals against, and a +19 goal differential.
Their undefeated record included a 5-0 win over Arlington SA (Arlington, WV), a 3-0 win over Chicago City (Chicago, IL), a 7-0 win over Atlanta Metros (Atlanta, GA), a 2-0 win over Atlanta Fire United (Atlanta, GA), and a 4-2 win over Nationals 1 (Pontiac, MI).
“Both teams showed a tremendous amount of quality throughout the event,” Popovic added. “They competed with some of the top clubs throughout the country. We were able to establish our style and rhythm, which created some very good goals. We were tough and organized defensively, which made it very difficult for teams to not only score but create quality chances. We as a club only gave up four goals in the event while scoring 41.”
The U14s finished with a 5-0-0 record, including 20 goals for, 2 goals against, and a +18 goal differential.
Their undefeated record included a 2-0 win over West Side Alliance (Tulsa, OK), a 3-0 win over Nationals Tri Cities (Pontiac, MI), a 7-1 win over Arlington SA (Arlington, WV), a 5-0 win over Pittsburgh Riverhounds (Pittsburgh, PA), and a 3-1 win over Rebels Soccer Club (Chula Vista, CA).
“We are very proud of our teams,” Assistant Director of Coaching Jared Rose said.
“It takes a lot of work to achieve what they have,” said Rose.
“A big thank you goes to our managers Kristin Sugar and Sarah Schork for keeping families organized and on schedule with our itinerary,” added Rose. “Thank you to the parents that take the time to love and support their daughters while they compete in the game we love. Thanks to the coaches that work with these teams and demand a higher standard. And thanks to the players that push themselves day in and day out to become better individually which drives everyone to be better collectively.”
