ISC Gunners 02A Premier Girls Win adidas Clash at the Border Tournament
The 2016 adidas Clash at the Border soccer tournament brings together top level premier, select, classic, and travel teams from Washington, Oregon, Alaska, California, Idaho, Hawaii, Canada, and more for a weekend of competitive soccer on brilliant fields truly on the border. Games will be played in Camas/Vancouver Washington and Delta Park in Portland Oregon.
Youth Soccer News: The ISC Gunners 2002A Premier Girls won the Girl’s 02 Gold division at the adidas Clash at the Border tournament in Portland, Oregon, over the weekend of June 24th.
The team was recently put together as several girls joined from other clubs in the area. Head Coach Eddie Henderson also serves as the Technical Director of the ISC Gunners, which is based out of Issaquah, Washington.
The 2002A Premier girls were one of 21 ISC teams selected to play in the adidas Clash at the Border. The girls held shutouts in all four matches and won a competitive matchup in the finals against the Westside Timbers G02 Copa in PK’s.
Coach Henderson says the highlight of the tournament was being able to watch a brand new team go through a transformation as the tournament went on. The girls were able to use what they had been working on in training in order to improve each game.
Four other ISC teams were crowned champions of their divisions, and another five ISC teams made it to the finals. Henderson, who came over from the Puget Sound Premier League (PSPL) where he served as Academy and Technical Director.
Henderson explained that his decision to join the ISC program was due to the club matching his philosophy of developing a system where the players can learn and grow.
