Third UCLA Bruin to Receive The Honor This Season
Soccer News: UCLA Bruin freshman midfielder Jackson Yueill has been named the Pac-12 Conference Player of the Week for games from November 2 – November 8. Yueill netted a trio of goals this weekend to lead UCLA to wins over Oregon State and Washington.
Yueill now has seven goals and five assists (19 points) on the season, ranking third on the team in goals, second in assists and fourth in points. Among all Pac-12 players, Yueill ranks within the top-seven in goals, assists and points.
On Friday against Oregon State, Yueill scored the third goal of the game for the Bruins after corralling a loose ball and beating two defenders to find the back of the net. Then on Sunday, Yueill scored his first goal on a beautiful bending free-kick, before scoring the game-winner from close range after a wonderful bit of passing between him and Larry Ndjock. The two-goal effort was Yueill’s first career multi-goal game.
This marks the second-straight week that a UCLA player has claimed the Pac-12 Player of the Week honor. This is Yueill’s first career Pac-12 Player of the Week award and UCLA’s 59th all-time selection. Yueill joins Seyi Adekoya and Abu Danladi as Bruin players to receive the honor this season.
The 16th-ranked Bruins close out their regular season schedule this weekend when they travel south to take on the San Diego State Aztecs. The game is set to kick-off at 7:00pm PT and fans can follow along with live stats at GoAztecs.com.
