Sockers Forward Tallies Two Goals and Two Assists During Home Opener
Soccer News: San Diego Sockers forward Kraig Chiles was named the Major Arena Soccer League Player of the Week after his two goals and two assists propelled the Sockers to a 7-5 win over Soles de Sonora.
Chiles scored goals number 247 and 248 for his career and is now just six away from tying Juli Veee as the Sockers all-time leading scorer.
The three time MVP opened his account for the season directly from a set piece in the first quarter and then scored off a feed from Evan McNeley in the third.
Chris Toth, McNeley and Jeff Hughes also made the Team of the Week while Anthony Medina was given honorable mention.

GK- Chris Toth:
Recorded 11 saves on 16 shots faced including some excellent reaction saves. His smart distribution and quick outlets also jump-started the Sockers’ attacks.
D- Evan McNeley:
Scored the Sockers first goal of the season to level the scores at one. Also had the assist on Chiles’ goal to make it 6-4 late in the third quarter. In addition to his tough tackling and defensive organization, McNeley also showed he has a powerful drive, forcing Soles keeper Diego Reynoso into some excellent saves.
M- Jeff Hughes:
The former MVP scored on the power play and then iced the game with a ferocious shot to the upper corner. Was smart in his distribution and also blocked a shot on the defensive end.
