Teams Vying For a Spot In The UPSL Semifinals
Soccer News: L.A. Wolves look to continue their dominant run as they come face to face with a strong FC Hasental visiting side on Saturday night at Toyota Sports Complex in Torrance, CA with a 8:00 pm Kickoff.
Both teams will be vying for a spot in the semifinals of this year’s United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) season. The Wolves have been absolutely dominant this year, posting a record of 20-0-1 over the past several months. Despite their dominance over league opponents where they have scored 19 goals in their last 4 games, they understand that this is a one game elimination and that they’ll need to be at the top of their game if they hope to advance into the next round.
L.A. Wolves President Yan Skwara commented on where his team is at both mentally and physically. “We know that this is going to be a very tough match as Hasental is hungry for a win as we are. There are 8 teams left in the playoffs and it’s been a long season but this is where the men separate from the boys and our guys are ready to play. We are going up against a very experienced and competitive side. They’ve played in games of this magnitude before, and we know that we’ll have to match their intensity for a full 90 minutes. We have an idea of how they’re going to come at us from a tactical standpoint, and we have been rightfully preparing ourselves all week.”
Standing in their way will be a stubborn FC Hasental side that has won their last 9 games. With an emphasis on possession, building their attack from the back, FC Hasental has all the components needed to make a deep run in this year’s playoffs. Players Alex Escalante, Joel De Leon and Jonny Ramirez have been the engine powering this Hasental side that has a goal differential of +13 over the course of the season.
FC Hasental Head Coach John Meyers said “We know that when we play to our full capabilities, we can compete with anyone. Winning our last 9 games has given my club the confidence they need to compete against a solid club like the Wolves. It is important that we stick to our game plan. We are at our strongest when we play a possession style of football. We cannot let the other team get us out of our rhythm. I have complete confidence in my team. Our training sessions have been really good this week. They’re excited and hungry and that is exactly the mentality you need going into a game like this.”
