UPSL’s L.A. Wolves Face Inland Empire FC in U.S. Open Cup Qualifying
After having the initial match postponed due to weather conditions, the L.A. Wolves FC prepare to take on Inland Empire FC in the second round of U.S. Open Cup Qualifying. The winner will join fellow UPSL sides Chula Vista FC, La Maquina, Moreno Valley FC and Outbreak SC in the next round of qualification.
UPSL Soccer News: The L.A. Wolves FC are heading to the Inland Empire with a clear weather forecast permitting the rescheduled Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup match.
The L.A. Wolves will take on Jurupa Valley’s Inland Empire FC at 6 p.m. PT on Sunday, November 13th at Jurupa Regional Sports Complex in the final match of Qualifying Round 2 for the U.S. Open Cup.
The initial matchup scheduled for October 23rd was postponed due to a lightning storm.
L.A. Wolves President/GM Yan Skwara said, “We are excited to finally get to this match as the the lighting delay a few weeks back postponed our game but the boys are ready and eager to play. Putting ourselves in a position to be in the third round of Qualifying in March is where we want to be. The U.S Open Cup is an exciting tournament to be a part of and we want to make the most of the tourney in a few ways. We expect a feisty opponent in Inland Empire FC and it’s going to be our job to match up and execute. We never underestimate our opponent so we are hitting the road ready to battle and shoot for the win.”
The L.A. Wolves are currently on a four-game winning streak across all competitions, including a dominant 11-0 victory over Newhall FC in an Admiral Cup tournament game on Sunday, November 6th.
The current UPSL Western Division leaders opened the tournament with a 4-1 victory over Real Sociedad in September to kick off the U.S Open Cup Qualifying process.
L.A. Wolves Sporting Director, Michael Collins said, “The team is in great form as the boys have played together now as a unit for close to a year plus and that’s really starting to show. We have also signed some very nice players recently to beef up and complement our squad so we are excited to play.”
The winner will join fellow UPSL clubs Chula Vista FC, La Maquina, Moreno Valley FC and Outbreak SC in the next round of qualifying for the U.S. Open Cup, scheduled for March of 2017.
Inland Empire FC edged Avalanche FC, 3-2, in its Round 1 qualifier on September 17th.
The Golden Eagles, a UPSL Southeast Division side making its first run at U.S. Open Cup qualification, are led by Ramon Felix and Bennett Sperber.
