LA Galaxy Orange County Women’s Team Welcomes Their Community, Bringing Great Soccer Home to OC
LA Galaxy Orange County Women’s team is ready to start their second season and is looking to grow their attendance record of 2,300 fans.
LA Galaxy Orange County will kick off their second season in United Women’s Soccer (UWS) on May 19,
“We are very excited to be starting our second season in United Women’s Soccer (UWS),” said Tim Woodcock, Director of Operations, LA Galaxy Orange County. “This year, we have a really unbelievable team with some of the best female players in the country — and it is great to see this level of players playing in Orange County.”
The LA Galaxy Orange County Women’s Team roster has players from five different countries, Japan, Brazil, England Mexico, and the USA.
The opening day roster includes eight players from Orange County as well as five collegiate All-Americans and four National Champions.
This is the second weekend for UWS soccer and SoCal sides LA Galaxy OC and Santa Clarita Blue Heat have a cross-town rivalry that is sure to engage fans.
Historically, these two teams battle on the field for supremacy. Their first match in 2018 ended in a 1-1 tie with the LA Galaxy OC defeating the Blue Heat 2-1 in their second match up.
How will the season kick-off for the Galaxy’s OC women?
Coached by Scott Juniper, the squad should be well prepared to work hard and is looking for a victory.
Juniper is the Head Coach of the UC Irvine Women’s Soccer Team and is the all-time winningest coach in UCI women’s soccer history.
“The word is spreading that we are doing a good job and we are ready for the challenges of the new season.

“We have an 18-year-old, former U17s national team player, Kate Weisner, who will be starting on Sunday. Kate is our youngest player,” said Juniper who is proud of the team he has assembled. “The highly accomplished Lindsey Huie will also be starting for us — Huie played for the U.S. Women’s National Team and earned her first cap with the senior squad at the 2005 Algarve Cup. This University of Portland grad was an All-America midfielder multiple times.”
“All of the players on the roster have an eye on playing professionally or have already accomplished signing a pro contract,” said Juniper who would like to build the #1 semi-pro women’s team in the world.
“LA Galaxy OC does it right, and really supports the growth of women’s soccer at this semi-professional level,” said Juniper who finds coaching this team a refreshing change from coaching college soccer. “And, we play in an amazing facility.”
