Long-time NWSL Coach Leads USA into U20 World Cup Qualifying Next Month
After seven years in the NWSL, Laura Harvey rises for a new challenge

“The opportunity to work with young players towards qualifying for a World Cup and in a World Cup cycle is something that really drew me to this role,” Laura Harvey said in an interview recently.

A coach who has always valued the technical and tactical, Harvey will be a welcome addition to the coaches at U.S. Soccer.
BIO: Harvey comes to U.S. Soccer after spending seven seasons as a head coach in the National Women’s Soccer League, 2018 and 2019 with Utah Royals FC and 2013-2017 with Seattle Reign FC, where she was also the General Manager. She led Reign FC to the NWSL Shield and championship game appearances in 2014 and 2015. In both years, she was also named NWSL Coach of the Year.
In 2020, Harvey will be the second female candidate to take the U.S. Soccer Pro License Course.
Harvey will work closely with U17 Women’s National Team head coach Tracey Kevins, who was her assistant for two seasons in the NWSL with the Seattle Reign.
A former pro herself, English born Harvey, who is only 39-years-old had her professional playing career cut short by a knee injury and she began coaching in 2002. Harvey played for Wolverhampton Wanderers and Birmingham City in the FA Women’s Premier League.
