Liverpool Land in California for Summer Kick Off
Founded in 1892, Liverpool FC is one of the world’s most historic and famous football clubs having won 18 League Titles, seven FA Cups, eight League Cups, five European Cups, three UEFA Cups, three European Super Cups and 15 Charity Shields. Liverpool prepare for their opening match of the International Champions Cup this Saturday with a few stops in the Bay Area as well as hosting a fan event at the legendary Avalon Hollywood. The Reds also catch up with Carli Lloyd of the United States Women’s National Team on her passion for Liverpool and its origin.
Soccer News: Liverpool FC kicked off its first ever Los Angeles visit last night with a free fan event held at the Avalon Hollywood. The Reds gear up for their first International Champions Cup fixture against Chelsea FC at the Rose Bowl Stadium this afternoon.
The event featured a visit from Liverpool FC Ambassadors Ian Rush, Robbie Fowler, Gary McAllister and legend Luis Garcia. The Legends took part in a meet and greet with fans as well as a Q&A.
The evening also featured a nod to Liverpool’s other greatest export, with a performance by Beatles Tribute Band “With the Beatles”. A fitting homage to the famous Liverpudlians, given the Avalon Hollywood was the venue of their first ever West Coast performance in 1964.
“Meeting LFC fans today and seeing their passion and enthusiasm for the Club was fantastic,” said Fowler. “It’s always great to meet our fans, wherever in the world they are. If the fans here bring that energy to each of our U.S fixtures it will make for a fantastic occasion.”

Lloyd also tries her hand at some ‘Scouse’, the unique dialect of Liverpool, with some hilarious results.
Liverpool FC made a stop at Alcatraz following their arrival in the U.S last week. The squad took part in a guided tour of the iconic landmark with defender Mamadou Sakho capturing the visit.
Sakho takes us on a guided tour of the former federal prison, where he quizzes his teammates on how long they think they would survive in the cells, as well as crashing Klopp’s LFCTV interview.
The Reds also made a stop at one of San Francisco’s most famous tourist locations – Fisherman’s Wharf! Liverpool legends Fowler and Garcia took on the sights and scenes ahead of Liverpool’s match against AC Milan on Saturday, July 30.
The Premier League squad is without a doubt enjoying its time in California, but don’t expect further slack as Klopp will surely be geared up for the match this weekend.
