Liverpool Ladies Strengthen Squad with American U23 Goalkeeper
Usually America soccer players are seeking support from their EPL counterparts but in women’s’ soccer the tide is turned with Liverpool Ladies signing USA’s Libby Stout for help on the pitch.
Liverpool Ladies have signed American international goalkeeper, Libby Stout – former Western Kentucky University Women’s Soccer player and USA U23 player.
The Women’s Super League Champions have landed the signature of the 23 year-old from BV Cloppenburg in Germany.
The move further strengthens the Ladies team, who have already added two exciting acquisitions in Martha Harris from Notts County Ladies and Gemma Davison from Arsenal Ladies.
Libby is a commanding and athletic goalkeeper who has also played for Femin Yzeure Allier Auvergne (FFY AA) in France as well as representing U.S.A. Under 23 team.
During Libby’s spell in France, she competed against European giants such as Olympique Lyon and Paris St Germain in Le Championnat, which will help Liverpool Ladies in their first season in the Champions League.
Matt Beard’s side are currently preparing for the upcoming WSL and Champions League campaigns having lifted the league trophy for the first time in the club’s history in 2013.
Speaking of her move to Liverpool, Libby said: “I have had the desire to be a professional footballer since the age of nine and the one place I have always wanted to play is England.”
“To do that and represent Liverpool Ladies is a dream come true, and I believe my ability will shine in the WSL and Champions League. I hope that my experience, leadership and determination to succeed will only benefit the team as we strive to build on last season’s success.”
Liverpool Ladies manager, Beard said, “This is a really exciting signing for Liverpool Ladies as we look to continue improving the squad ahead of the new season which I believe will be the most competitive season ever and it is vital we continue to strengthen the team in order to defend our title.”
