Western New York Flash assistant Coach Pedro Losa Becomes Arsenal Ladies Head Coach
After two seasons with the Flash, Losa accepts position with the Gunners.
Western New York Flash assistant coach Pedro Martinez Losa will become the newest head coach of the Arsenal Ladies FC of the FA Women’s Super League. Losa joined the Flash in late 2012 and helped the club win the NWSL Shield en route to its fourth-consecutive Championship appearance during the inaugural NWSL season.
“After joining our staff in 2012, Pedro built amazing relationships with everyone in our community, and though I am sad to see him leave our family, I am incredibly proud of this accomplishment and excited with him for this opportunity,” Flash general manager and head coach Aaran Lines said.
“The Flash have been incredibly fortunate to have had a coach of Pedro’s caliber as part of our club for the past two years.”
“I want to thank Pedro for all he has done for our organization and for helping the WNY area improve our players over the last two years through his dedication and passion,” Lines added. “It is an honor to have a coach from the WNY Flash be offered the head coaching position at one of the best clubs in the world.”
Though an assistant in WNY, the position at Arsenal will not be the first head coach appointment for the Spain native. Before arriving to Buffalo, Losa served as the manager for C.F. Pozuelo and Rayo Vallecano de Madrid during his 18-year coaching tenure in Spain.
“I would like to thank the WNY Flash for a fantastic experience. Thank you to the Sahlen family for giving me a tremendous opportunity these past two years and of course thank you to all of the staff, players and families who have made this experience amazing for me,” Losa said. “Obviously, I’m very honored to have the opportunity to work with one of the biggest clubs in the world.”
This season, Losa was key to the club acquiring Spanish National Team members Vicky Losada and Sonia Bermudez. He also served as a coach in the WNY Flash Academy during his tenure.
