Louisville City FC Set to Host Second Round of U.S. Open Cup
LouCity is set to host the second round of the U.S. Open Cup versus the winner of the matchup between the Michigan Bucks and Detroit City FC. Louisville made it to the fourth round of the 2015 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup before falling to Major League Soccer’s Chicago Fire.
Soccer News: Louisville City FC’s second appearance in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup will look different than the 2015 version. U.S. Soccer announced on Wednesday that LouCity will host the winner of May 11’s first round meeting between the Michigan Bucks (PDL) and Detroit City FC (NPSL).
The second-round match, hosted by LouCity, will be played at Owsley B. Frazier Stadium on the campus of Bellarmine University in Louisville. Limited seating is available, with tickets available for season ticket holder presale at 10 a.m. on April 11 until 5 p.m. on April 13.
If available, tickets will be open for purchase by the general public at 10 a.m. on April 14.
The 2015 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup saw Louisville City make its debut with a run into the fourth round before falling to Major League Soccer’s Chicago Fire. LouCity downed Lansing United, 1-0, and Indy Eleven, 2-0 — both on the road.
The Michigan Bucks will host Detroit City FC in the first-round match.
Louisville City kicked off its 2016 USL regular season with a 1-1-0 (3 points) start. LouCity hosts Orlando City B on Saturday at Slugger Field with a 7:30 p.m. kickoff. The el Jimador Tequila Pitch Party gets things started at 5:30 p.m.
