Fury FC acquire Canadian International Maxime Crépeau from Montreal Impact
Ottawa Fury FC are joined by Canadian Maxime Crépeau – on loan from Montreal Impact
Soccer News: Ottawa Fury FC have acquired Canadian International Maxime Crépeau on a year-long loan from the Montreal Impact, pending league and federation approval, the two clubs announced on Sunday.
“Maxime is a talented goalkeeper that fits the system and culture we are looking to establish here,” said Fury FC General Manager Julian de Guzman.
“We are looking forward to giving him this opportunity to continue his development and a chance to fight for that number one keeper role,” said Guzman. “With the hard work and dedication Callum Irving has put in the past season, adding another strong goalkeeper like Maxime Crépeau can only benefit our club and help us achieve our objectives.”
A Quebec native, Crépeau first started playing soccer at the age of 7, made his debut in the Canadian youth program at 15 years of age and signed as a homegrown player by the Montreal Impact in March 2013.
After a training stint with Bologna FC 1909 in January of 2016, he joined the Impact as the first team’s third keeper. In 2017, he registered his first three career MLS appearances, starting the final two games of the club’s regular season, as well as starting in all four of Montreal’s Canadian Championship matches.
On the international stage, Crépeau made his debut with the Men’s National Team at 21 in February of 2016 and has since then appeared twice, his most recent last summer as part of the CONCACAF Gold Cup run that saw Canada go undefeated in group match play.
He had previously represented Canada at the youth levels in CONCACAF championships, Jeux de la Francophonie, and was part of the team that represented the country at the 2015 Pan American Games and the 2015 CONCACAF Olympic Qualifying Tournament.
Ottawa Fury FC opens training camp on January 29 ahead of the club’s fifth season. Fury FC will open the 2018 USL season on March 17 in Charlotte against the Independence, and will host North Carolina FC on April 21 at TD Place in their 2018 Home Opener.
Season Tickets for the 2018 USL season are available now at OttawaFuryFC.com/2018-Season-Tickets, by calling 613.232.6767 X1 or in person at the Box Office at TD Place.
