New England Revolution Draft Pick, 21-year-old Mark Segbers Goes on Loan to Orange County SC for the 2018 Season
1st Round MLS SuperDraft pick Segbers to play for Orange County Soccer Club on a season-long loan from New England Revolution.
Soccer News: Orange County Soccer Club announced winger Mark Segbers will join the club on a season-long loan from New England Revolution with the right to recall at any time during the loan period.
The Revolution selected Segbers 9th overall in the 2018 MLS SuperDraft from the University of Wisconsin. Segbers signed his MLS contract on Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018.
Segbers, 21, made 77 appearances for Wisconsin.
Segbers collected 16 goals and 22 assists during his college career. He was a Second Team All-Big Ten Conference selection in his senior year.
“We have tracked Mark for some time after impressing the technical staff at the 2018 MLS Combine,” said Orange County SC Assistant GM and SVP of Player Recruitment & Soccer Operations, Peter Nugent.
“He is a dynamic player, whose direct running and pace will cause opposing teams problems this year,” added Nugent.
The loan from the MLS club will provide perhaps more playing time for Segbers and the chance to hone his skills.
