New York City FC Win on the Road Versus Seattle Sounders FC
New York City FC defeated the Seattle Sounders on Saturday at CenturyLink Field led by Frank Lampard who tallied his second goal of the season. Ronald Matarrita doubled the lead to secure New York’s second consecutive win as they prepare to host the Red Bulls on Sunday in the New York Derby.
Soccer News: Frank Lampard scored his second goal of the season along with Ronald Matarrita tallying his first MLS goal to lead New York City FC to a 2-0 win against the Seattle Sounders FC on Saturday at CenturyLink Field.
Lampard put NYCFC in front in the 38th minute, turning toward goal and chesting an RJ Allen cross past Sounders goalkeeper Stefan Frei for his second goal of the season.

Lampard had another chance on the hour mark when he received a square ball by Jack Harrison and turned at the top of the box before his deflected shot resulted in an NYCFC corner.
Matarrita put the finishing touches on a huge road win three minutes from full time, lofting a pass from Mikey Lopez past a helpless Frei, who came out to challenge David Villa following a Seattle turnover.

Goalkeeper Josh Saunders recorded a shutout in the match as he gave his teammates some advice coming into the match.
“Yeah I think for a lot of guys it was just more me using my experience and telling them exactly what it was going to be like. You know, it’s always loud here and it’s a great environment to be in. If you’re not ready for this game, then you can’t get ready for any game,” stated Saunders.
