Youth Soccer News: Murrieta Surf Team Wins Silver State Tournament in Las Vegas
The Murrieta Surf Soccer Club Girls 2000 celebrated a well earned victory winning the Silver State Tournament Las Vegas, Nevada. The competition was tough, including playing against one of the state’s top ranked U13 team.
Murrieta Surf G00 White U13 played Heat FC 01FA to win the championship. The final score was 3-1 and the match was played at the Bettye Wilson Soccer Complex.
“Murrieta Surf played its usual technically proficient possession style of soccer, scoring 14 goals while conceding just one in the tournament held Jan. 25-26, the news release stated.”
Tournament Recap: After successful bracket play, MURRIETA SURF defeated DOWNTOWN LVSC 01 RAPIDS 3-0 in the Semi Finals to move on to defeat HEAT FC 01 FA 3-1 in the final.
Las Vegas’ longest running Soccer Tournament, the Silver State Tournament offers competition for Girls U9-U19 and Boys U9-U19. All Games are played at Bettye Wilson and Kellogg Zaher Soccer Complexes.
In December 2011 Murrieta Youth Soccer League and FC Murrieta entered into a strategic partnership with San Diego Surf SC, with the competitive branch becoming Murrieta Surf SC. Steve Haubrick, the President of Murrieta Surf Soccer Club said at the time, “We are excited about the future, and are thrilled to sign a long-term extension of our affiliate agreement. We see a tremendous benefit in the Surf network and are proud that our players will see increased opportunities to play at the highest levels and beyond high school.”
