Minnesota United FC Hosts Jacksonville Armada FC On NASL Wednesday Night Soccer on ONE World Sports
Armada FC hoping to generate momentum before hosting Cosmos on Saturday
Soccer News: A week after making its debut in Carolina, NASL Wednesday Night Soccer on ONE World Sports returns to the airwaves with a matchup between Minnesota United FC and Jacksonville Armada FC at NSC Stadium in Blaine, Minn.
Kicking off at 8 p.m.ET, the match features a pair of sides looking to get back to their winning ways after slow starts to the NASL Fall Season. Fans can watch the match live on ONE World Sports and the Watch ONE World Sports app.
United took several positives from their 1-1 result against Ottawa Fury FC last weekend. The Loons did something no team had done against Ottawa for exactly 648 minutes – they scored a goal. Even better, the goal came from a player, Christian Ramirez, who is desperate to recapture his goal-scoring form from last year, when he won the NASL Golden Boot award as the league’s top scorer (20 goals).
Ramirez rifled home a volley for just his second goal of the year, giving him some confidence heading into Wednesday’s clash with Jacksonville. The 24-year-old forward, along with the likes of veterans Pablo Campos, Kalif Alhassan, and Daniel Mendes, has big shoes to fill now that U.S. Men’s National Team midfielder Miguel Ibarra has departed for Club León of Liga MX.
Lining up across the Loons will be the Armada FC, whose high-flying attack has been smothered the last two weeks. Jacksonville travels to the Twin Cities on the heels of a pair of shutout losses to Ottawa and Atlanta respectively. Guillermo Hoyos’ men will look at Wednesday’s match as a momentum-generator heading into their weekend home clash against the New York Cosmos, who have yet to lose a league game in 2015.
NASL Wednesday Night Soccer on ONE World Sports isn’t the only league programming on the network this week. Tuesday night marks the official debut of NASL This Week, a comprehensive 30-minute highlight show that will air on ONE World Sports from 6-6:30 p.m. ET every Tuesday.
