US Youth Soccer National League Teams Travel to Florida
US Youth Soccer National League teams are heading to Florida to compete in their next round of league play matches held in conjunction with the Disney Soccer Showcase. The National League provides a pathway for four teams per gender age group to qualify for the US Youth Soccer National Championships.
Youth Soccer News: The US Youth Soccer National League teams will resume league play December 27th through January 2nd at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex and ChampionsGate Sports Complex in Orlando, Florida. The matches are held in conjunction with the Disney Soccer Showcase, as the boys will compete December 27-29, while the girls take the field December 31-January 2.
The schedule for Orlando features 64 boys and girls teams in the U15 through U19/20 age groups that will play the final three matches of their National League season. Each matchup holds great importance in determining which clubs will advance to the 2017 US Youth Soccer National Championships, held July 25-30 in Frisco, Texas.
After both the boys and girls sides competed in North Carolina to open their seasons, nearly every division has numerous teams in position to contend for the title. The first place team’s lead is two points or less in 13 of 16 boys divisions and 12 of 16 girls divisions.
Teams competing in Orlando can also qualify for Disney Showcase championship games on December 30th (boys) and January 3rd (girls), which are separate from the National League season.
The National League teams that do not travel to Orlando will complete their season at the Players College Showcase in Las Vegas — boys games will be held March 10-12 and girls games between March 17-19.
