The Business of Soccer Changes the Face of Orange County
With the tag line of Orange County Soccer Club believes that soccer is a great opportunity to spend time with your family and enjoy the beautiful game together – the new soccer site has kicked off.
The new Orange County Soccer Club kicks off — the rebranding of the OC Blues with a new logo and name.
“I’m incredibly excited about the opportunity to take control of the OC Blues and transform the club into a world-class professional soccer organization,” said James Keston when he became the owner and president of OC Blues. Now, the Orange County Soccer Club has revealed a new team name with a new logo and is stepping into the limelight as a highly organized and professional soccer organization. Now, the United Soccer League (USL) team has been rebranded by Keston.
Breaking from tradition and proud, Keston said in an announcement released today, “In selecting a name and logo, I wanted the primary focus to be on Orange County. Where most teams in Orange County in the past have shied away from having the OC be a part of their logo, we really wanted to embrace it and make it a focal point. We wanted to give fans something that readily identifies the club as Orange County’s team.”
Will a shinny new stadium be part of the plan for Orange Country? With possible plans for finding a new home for the team which currently plays at the UC Irvine campus, Keston and general manager Oliver Wyss have ambitious plans.
Building on a rich tradition, Keston is pushing the club into a newly polished position. Few soccer fans realized that Orange County Soccer Club was one of 12 founding members of the USL in its inaugural 2011 season. The time is right for Southern California to have a world-class professional soccer organization in Orange County.
Based in Irvine, California, the team has just finalized their coaching staff. The newly appointed head coach is Logan Pause known for his work at Chicago Fire. During Pause’s 14 year stint at MLS’ Fire, he successfully made the switch from player and team captain to assistant coach and then Vice President. Pause was also the head coach of the Chicago Fire’s PDL team.
“This is truly the realization of a lifelong dream,” Keston said back when he assumed control of the club. “We will put a winning team on the field full of exciting young talent, initiate a cutting-edge youth development academy and create a fan experience worthy of one of the largest and most dedicated soccer markets in the United States.”
