Futsal News: New Total Futsal League in the South Bay
The Rebels Soccer Club has launched a new futsal league in the South Bay area called Total Futsal. Abel Martinez, a well respected youth soccer coach, is the Total Futsal League Director. Many soccer people may know him also as the co-founder of the Kick for Hope Tournament, a youth soccer tournament which raises funds and awareness for relief projects in Africa.
The league will consist of 8 weekend games and begin its first session on the weekend of November 15/16th and run through February. Games will be held at the Spring Valley Gymnasium and Parkway Community Center in Chula Vista.
Why launch a new Futsal league? Futsal has become extremely popular and well respected as a fun filled training option for player development. Pele, Ronaldo and Messi are among the many famous professional soccer players who play Futsal.
Futsal is played on a basketball or Futsal court and since the players are confined to a small space, there is a lot of action and every touch matters. Futsal helps develop foot skills, speed and agility and is highly recommended by top coaches around the world. Player size does not matter and every player gets a lot of touches on the ball.
The Rebels objective in starting Total Futsal is to create a local atmosphere that further reinforces our philosophy of ball control. The league is open to all recreational and competitive players between the ages of U7-U13 (2014-15 ages).
The Rebels is a non-profit youth competitive soccer club in the San Diego South Bay area that was established in 1982. Covering the Bonita, Chula Vista and Eastlake areas, the Club currently consists of 52 teams ranging in the ages between U7-U19 of girls and boys under the supervision of Coaching Director, Ryan Marquez.
The Rebels Club is committed to producing creative players by focusing on skill at the younger ages in order to produce a possession based playing style in older ages.
