Over 100 Teams to Kick Off Fall Ball This Sunday in the Capital District Youth Soccer League
New York Youth Soccer News: No scores or standings are kept
Most of the nine leagues in the Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association (ENYYSA) play a Fall Season but the Capital District Youth Soccer League (CDYSL) does it with a twist through Fall Ball.
The games start this Sunday, September 16 and continue for six Sundays until October 28, taking off only for Columbus Day weekend. Only make-up and tournament games are played in November as the CDYSL ends Fall Ball before other leagues complete their Fall Season as winter can come early to the Albany area.
This autumn, 109 teams––65 boys squads, 38 girls teams and six Under-8 coed teams––are playing Fall Ball and this is a 25% increase in players over Fall Ball in 2017. The age groups go up to Under-14 and all the games are hosted by CDYSL club Fifty FC at Maalwyck Park in Scotia.
These are friendly games so no scores or standings are kept.
The Under-15 to Under-19 age groups do not play in the CDYSL in the fall as the league lets those players concentrate on playing for their high school and middle school teams instead.
Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association: With over 100,000 youth soccer players–both boys and girls–and more than 25,000 volunteers, the non-profit Eastern New York Youth Soccer Association (ENYYSA) reaches from Montauk Point, Long Island to the Canadian border. Members are affiliated with nine leagues throughout the association, which covers the entire state of New York east of Route 81. ENYYSA exists to promote and enhance the game of soccer for children and teenagers between the ages of 5 and 19 years old and to encourage the healthy development of youth players, coaches, referees, and administrators.
