Henry Reyes Receives the CJSL’s Herbert Heilpern Scholarship
New York Soccer News: The recipient receives $1,000 for all four years of college
The Cosmopolitan Junior Soccer League (CJSL), America’s oldest youth soccer league and New York originals since 1933, is pleased to announce that Henry Reyes of Gjøa is receiving the CJSL’s Herbert Heilpern Scholarship. Heilpern was a US Soccer and Eastern New York Hall of Famer who served as President of what is now known today as the Cosmopolitan Soccer League and the CJSL plus he co-founded both the New York Cosmos and original North American Soccer League.
In the CJSL, Henry is the central defender and captain of the Boys-Under-19 SC Gjøa Solskjaer. The Brooklyn resident is receiving the scholarship based on his grades, SAT scores and playing ability.
“Henry always set a great example for the team, very helpful and motivating towards his teammates. His qualities on and off the field were rewarded with the Player of the Year award at Gjøa and we are very proud of him for receiving this scholarship,” said his coach, Tiago Valente. “We look forward to seeing Henry excel at college in the classroom and on the soccer field.”
The CJSL Scholarship is worth $4,000 total in $1,000 installments for all four years of college. We wish Henry, a Brooklyn resident, the best studying and playing soccer at Clark University.
