NJYS Celebrates 14th Annual National Youth Soccer Month
New Jersey Youth Soccer recaps an eventful month celebrating youth soccer that saw the organization host nine events during September. National Youth Soccer Month is dedicated to providing the public with education on the benefits of playing youth soccer as well as with resources to get involved with local programs.
Youth Soccer News: New Jersey Youth Soccer recently held nine local events in support of National Youth Soccer Month, which was observed during the month of September. Celebrating its 14th year in 2016, National Youth Soccer Month is led by an initiative to educate the public about the joys, rewards and benefits of playing youth soccer.
“We would like to thank NJ Youth Soccer for including our program in their celebration of National Youth Soccer Month,” said Krissy Turner, Head Coach of the Monmouth University Women’s Soccer Team. “This was a tremendous opportunity to raise awareness for youth soccer in the state and to also bring together the soccer community as a whole. Each player involved with our program was once in the same shoes as these youth players, so we were happy to give back and support this initiative.”
NJ Youth Soccer kicked off National Youth Soccer Month in South Orange at a Seton Hall versus Fordham women’s soccer match. Events were then hosted throughout the state over the next four-plus weeks, including four additional women’s soccer games and four men’s soccer matches. In addition to Seton Hall, the soccer programs at Rowan, Princeton, Georgian Court, Rider and Monmouth all participated.
“We would like to thank all of the college soccer programs that helped us make National Youth Soccer Month such a great success,” said Evan Dabby, NJ Youth Soccer Executive Director. “It is very encouraging to see the way youth soccer is embraced throughout the state in the college game, as well as in professional soccer. New Jersey has produced so many great soccer players on both the men’s and women’s side, and you can see how that has occurred in the way that the soccer community strongly supports one another.”
Among the activities in which NJ Youth Soccer players participated during matches over National Youth Soccer Month included as ball kids, player escorts and in halftime pick-up matches.
