SOLD-OUT CROWD AT YURCAK FIELD
Soccer News: More than 900 players, parents and coaches showed their support at NJ Youth Soccer Night at Sky Blue FC on Saturday. Sky Blue FC defeated Alex Morgan, Tobin Heath and the Portland Thorns FC in front of a record crowd. The announced attendance was 5,547 fans, which is the largest for the team ever at Yurcak Field.
NJ Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program (ODP) and Young Olympians were invited to a receive an inside look into the match via a pregame talk from Jim Gabarra, Sky Blue FC Head Coach and Technical Director. The players were also treated to a surprise when Jillian Loyden, former Sky Blue FC, U.S. Women’s National Team and ODP goalkeeper, visited to tell them about her experiences.
At halftime, players from NJYS clubs throughout the state, along with the ODP and Young Olympians, took part in the “Parade of Champions” that allowed them the chance to be on the pitch. After the game, Christie Rampone, Maya Hayes and Rachel Breton greeted the players and signed autographs. The three NJ players were proud to support the kids in their home state. Kelley O’Hara, as well as others, took time to sign autographs for those attending the NJ Youth Soccer Night at Sky Blue FC.
This was the second annual NJ Youth Soccer Night at Sky Blue FC. Both organizations have enjoyed a burgeoning relationship with Sky Blue FC supporting NJYS’ recreation, State Cups, TOPSoccer and ODP events.
After a road contest with Seattle Reign FC next Saturday night, Sky Blue FC will close out its 2015 NWSL season on Wednesday, September 2nd, when it hosts FC Kansas City at Yurcak Field.
