New Jersey Youth Soccer Host Second Kohl’s US Youth Soccer American Cup
NJ Youth Soccer conclude its second annual Kohl’s US Youth Soccer American Cup in partnership with Freehold Soccer League. Players were welcomed by the New York Red Bulls Street Team and a surprise visit by Sky Blue FC Head Coach Christy Holly during a weekend of soccer action that promoted participation rather than competition.

Youth Soccer News: New Jersey Youth Soccer in partnership with the Freehold Soccer League, hosted a Kohl’s US Youth Soccer American Cup for a second consecutive year. This soccer event engaged more than 600 children at the Jackson Mills soccer fields.
The Kohl’s American Cup started in 2000 to highlight recreational soccer players and promote fair play. Players receive equal opportunities and benefits within their level of play, with an emphasis on participation rather than competition. It fosters stimulation and excitement about soccer in an effort to increase the recreational player’s interest in and love for the game.
In addition to the action on the field, participants were entertained by the New York Red Bulls Street Team; a surprise visit by Sky Blue FC Head Coach Christy Holly, opportunity to play soccer tennis on equipment provided by Bownet, and to have some interactive fun on oversized soccer inflatables in the Kohl’s American Cup Kid Zone.
“The Kohl’s American Cup was another highlight for the Freehold Soccer Recreation Program. The Red Bulls street team, Sky Blue athletes and generous event donors recreated that festive environment that our young players have been talking about since last year,” said Dave Moore, Freehold Soccer League’s Recreation Commissioner. “We thank Kohl’s, US Youth Soccer and NJ Youth Soccer for their partnership and support.”
Every player received a NJ Youth Soccer sling bag in which to carry their Kohl’s American Cup participation certificate, lanyard, wristband, US Youth Soccer FUEL magazine, MLS playing cards provided by Topps; a shirt and water bottle provided by JAG Physical Therapy, a beach ball and spin to win opportunity from TD Bank and healthy snacks donated by Coaching Healthy Habits.
“It was fantastic to see all of the players and parents extend their day of soccer and enjoy all that the Kohls American Cup offered,” said Evelyn Gill, NJYS President. “The Freehold Soccer League facility and team of volunteers is top quality, which shows in the popularity of their recreation program.”
