New Jersey Youth Soccer Players Celebrated With A Special Night
Soccer News: New Jersey Youth Soccer enjoyed a family night out at the Rider University men’s soccer game. Watching an in-state collegiate game against conference rival, Monmouth University, kids of all ages came out and took part in the fun.
Before the game, NJYS players walked the college players out to the field as part of the pregame ceremonies. Other players had the opportunity to be balls kids during the game. At half time forty enthusiastic NJYS players took over the field and played a mini-game.
Susie, a South Jersey Elite Barons player who traveled up all the way from Cape May, said “It was great! My favorite part was watching the game and playing the mini-game. It was also great to interact with the other players.”
NJYS Olympic Development Program players were also in attendance. Head coach, Charlie Inverso spoke to the players about what the competition and what they should anticipate from his players on the field. The ODP players also watched the game with Rick Meana, NJYS director of coaching, to learn about tactics and strategies of the college game. Meana said, “This is a great opportunity for young players to be entertained and see how the game is played at higher levels. NJ Youth Soccer looks forward to exposing great events like this to more of our membership in the future.”
The match ended with the teams tied 1-1 but the kids, families and fans were winners. “I thought the event with NJ Youth Soccer was tremendous,” said Inverso. “It was a really high quality game, played at a good speed of play with two teams that try to play the game the right way.”
