Albion SC Holds Record for National League Championships in the Country
Albion SC BU16 White won the US National League sending the team to it’s second consecutive National Championship and the clubs 7th appearance in the National Championship in 9 years.
The Albion SC BU16 White team traveled to North Carolina to compete in the prestigious US Youth Soccer National League. Albion was the returning champion of the US National League and it was this league that gave the team the opportunity to compete for a National Championship this last July. The team competed for 4 days playing 4 matches and came home the champions.
Albion SC is well known across the nation for its dedication to providing a high level of player development for their club’s elite players and this championship winning team is a great example of the club’s efforts on player development and the players’ ambition, hard work and dedication.
“The US National League is such a great league as it is the best teams in the country battling it out for a National Championship spot. For us as a club we are pushing for National Championships and this win on the weekend marks the 7th in 9 years and 5th straight National Championship birth,” said Noah Gins, Albion SC Coaching and Technical Director. “This team did so well to come in and get the results needed to push into the National Championship.”
Goal Nation interviewed Noah Gins, who is also the head coach of the Albion SC BU16 championship team:
Diane Scavuzzo: How long have you coached this team?
Noah Gins: I have coached the boys for 2 years now.
Diane Scavuzzo: Is this a relatively new team – or one with the majority players having been with your club for a long time?
Noah Gins: This team is a veteran and home grown team that went through the cycle and progression of Albion SC Staff.
Diane Scavuzzo: What other special accomplishments have the boys achieved?
Noah Gins: This team won the US National League at U15 and went on to play at the US Youth Soccer National Championship. When I took them at U14 they set a goal to win and play for National Championship. It took them one season to realize their goal and continue to make their mark.
Diane Scavuzzo: How do you think this compares the US development academy games?
Noah Gins: These games come with high pressure, very result oriented, with competition being very tough. The US Development games are centered around a different philosophy and do not involve having to win each game out to find success. It is hard to even compare as they are two totally different arenas of competition and both have their benefits.
