Albion PROS Record Clean Sheet in Win Over Riverside
Albion SC PROS are climbing their way up the leaderboard following a dominant victory versus Riverside Coras over the weekend. The PROS now head on the road for a matchup against City of Angels FC in two weeks — no match is scheduled for Memorial Day weekend.
NPSL Soccer News: Albion SC PROS cruised to a dominating 3-0 victory over top-ranked Riverside Coras to record the club’s first clean sheet of the 2017 National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) season.
Riverside suffered its first loss of the season as the PROS sit within striking distance of third place Orange County FC in the NPSL Southwest Conference.
“We had numerous opportunities at goal. We were very disciplined. We didn’t give much away, and guys were tremendous all throughout…they were fantastic tonight,” said head coach Ziggy Korytoski.
Jean Antoine once again provided the PROS with a stellar performance in goal, saving two efforts by the Inland Empire club in the first 15 minutes of play.
“We’ve been working a lot on our defensive shape and good to see it paid off,” said Man of the Match Sean Callahan.
After a shot by Luan Oliveira tipped wide right and the Coras goalkeeper punched out a corner kick attempt, the match remained scoreless through the first 30 minutes of action.
In the 33rd minute, Amani Walker scored an unassisted goal as the Week 9 Mitre National Player of the Week brings his tally to five goals in the last four matches.
The PROS entered the second half with a 1-0 lead as the game became increasingly physical with multiple yellow cards being handed to Coras.
Three minutes later, defender Frankie Sanfilippo scored off a corner kick as the PROS extended their lead. The last goal of the night came in the 87th minute when Tre Hayes dribbled through a tight space and found the back of the net. The goal, assisted by Felipe Liborio, brought the scoreline to 3-0 as time expired.
The PROS next match is scheduled for Saturday, June 3, on the road versus City of Angels FC.
“We’re excited for the runout. Six games to go, but one game at a time,” said Korytoski.
