SoCal SC recorded a dominant victory over City of Angels FC as the Inland Empire club moves one spot up on the West Southwest Conference standings, jumping to the sixth place with 11 points. City of Angels recorded its ninth loss in ten matches and stays in the bottom of the division with a single point.
NPSL Soccer News: Southern California Sports Club cruised to a 4-1 victory over City of Angels FC on Saturday with the second half of the 2017 National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) campaign now underway.
Jesus Soria, Alex Zaragoza, Roonie Moreno and Jorge Moreno tallied a single goal for the hosts. SoCal SC was led by interim head coach Samuel Bernabe due to Daniel Musatti serving a three-game suspension.
Two new signings made their debut for SoCal SC as midfielders Jacob Arrieta and Andy Ortega were subbed in at the 72nd and 75th minute.
“Our team has displayed a great energy and performed exactly what was proposed on the game plan. The most important — was to get the 3 points to add on the table in order to move up on the standings — and, regain confidence and get prepared to the next opponent,” said Head Coach Daniel Musatti. “No matter what the conditions are, these young boys are dedicating so much that eventually details will shift into our favor as well, allowing us to attain our objectives.”
“I thought it was a pretty good game,” said Arrieta. “For my first few minutes in I felt like I got hold of the ball. I felt like the team made it easy for me to control it in the middle. Everybody around me was pretty calm and they knew it was time to close out the game. I felt like I was able to help close it out.”
“It felt good to get out there for 15 minutes,” said Ortega. “I’ve been working hard for the past three months. I feel like I can help the team make a good run and push for a playoff spot.”
SoCal SC was in full stride when the match kicked off, scoring all of its four goals between the third and 25th minute. City of Angels FC was able to get one back in the 50th minute but the difference was too heavy to overcome.
On Saturday, May 27, SoCal SC heads west to face Sports Club Corinthians USA at Chino High School, at 7:30 p.m. PT.
