Syracuse FC Draws Erie Commodores FC
Syracuse FC and Erie Commodores FC played out a draw over the weekend in a competitive NPSL matchup on the East Coast. Syracuse FC and the Erie Commodores will face off once again this Friday at Gannon University Field in Erie, PA.
NPSL Soccer News: Syracuse FC (SFC) earned a critical point in a 1-1 draw against undefeated Erie Commodores FC in front of 1,056 spectators at OCC’s David W. Murphy Field in Syracuse, NY. Syracuse FC is now unbeaten in three straight home matches.
Over the course of the game, Syracuse FC produced 8 shots and 8 saves. Erie Commodores finished with 15 shots and 8 saves.
Shortly following SFC’s opening kick, Stefanos Stamoulacatos earned three consecutive corner kicks that were denied by Erie’s defense.
Syracuse FC opened the scoring early when Logan Roberts cleaned up a shot struck on goal by Luiz Mota in the third minute and finessed it past Erie goalkeeper Jorge Prendes. The goal marked the first for Roberts this campaign, giving SFC a 1-0 lead.
The second half began with a quick goal for the Commodores. Thaylan Maria Sanches Silva put Erie on the board in the 49th minute off a curling corner to tie the match at 1-1.
Following a frantic three minutes of stoppage time, SFC and Erie tied 1-1 with each club receiving a point for their effort.
“Well played for us tonight,” said SFC head coach Matt Tantalo, “It was great to get the early goal. Things are coming together.”
Erie Commodores FC Sits atop the East Conference Division with three wins and two draws, while Syracuse remains with two wins, five losses and a draw.
Syracuse FC and the Erie Commodores will meet for a rematch on Friday, June 23, at Gannon University Field in Erie, PA. Syracuse hopes to continue their climb up the NPSL’s East Conference Division standings.
