Elma N’For Named NPSL Player of the Week
Elma N’For of Asheville City SC has been named NPSL Mitre National Player of the Week after recording a hat-trick over the weekend to lead his club to a victory. The winner of this national honor is determined by a vote of media members from across the country. It is awarded every week during the regular season.
NPSL Soccer News: Asheville City SC forward Elma N’For has received Mitre National Player of the Week honors for the twelfth week of the 2017 NPSL season.
“It is truly an honor to win this award. Ever since my father passed away, I have worn an armband for five years dedicating every goal to him,” said N’For. “I hope I can continue to make my family and Asheville City proud.”
N’For scored a hat-trick in a 3-2 victory over FC Carolina United. He now has four goals in three appearances for Asheville.
“We are thrilled that Elma has earned the first Mitre National Player of the Week honor in club history,” said Asheville City SC President Ryan Kelley. “Elma is an outstanding young man and we are honored to have him as a member of our inaugural team. His performance on the road Saturday night, along with his teammates, was critical in securing three points in what was a hard-fought match. We look forward to more of the same as we continue our push for the playoffs.”
The Bamenda, Cameroon native lives with his mother, two brothers and sister. He played for United 96 International prior to attending Wingate University, where he majored in Human Services and won the 2017 NCAA Division II National Championship under head coach Gary Hamill. He is also an entrepreneur, having invented The Bonding Tie with his girlfriend, Bailey Wilson.
