OCFC’s Connor Gordon Named NPSL Player of the Week
Connor Gordon of Orange County FC has been named NPSL Player of the Week after leading his club with a brace in last week’s matchup. The winner of this national honor is determined by a vote of media members from across the country. It is awarded every week during the regular season.
NPSL Soccer News: Orange County FC midfielder Connor Gordon has received Mitre National Player of the Week honors for the sixth week of the 2017 NPSL season.
“It is a great honor and privilege to receive this award, but most of the credit has to go to God, the coaches and my teammates,” said Gordon. “One of the best things that I saw in my first game with the team was that they really believed in me and made me feel welcome and I was able to pay them back with a good performance and two goals.”
Gordon scored a brace in his OCFC debut, which concluded a 3-3 draw against SoCal SC. His tallies were scored in the final 15 minutes of the match after entering as a substitute in the 44th minute.
“As a team we were able to fightback from three goals behind, get a result, and give a good show to all the fans that were able to make it to the game, which was the highest priority,” said Gordon. “Going forward from here and continuing to score goals and wins games will be the most important objective for myself and the rest of the team.”
The Huntington Beach native got his start at Edison High School, where he is best known for scoring 27 goals as a senior. Gordon later became a prolific scorer for Concordia University Irvine, registering 28 goals and 14 assists in just three seasons.
“With so many excellent players in the NPSL, it is nice to have an Orange County FC player recognized for his performance,” said Orange County FC head coach Paul Caligiuri.
