SoCal SC ties with Oxnard Guerreros on exciting 8 Goal Match
SoCal SC worked hard and tied an exciting match vs Oxnard Guerreros.
NPSL Soccer News: The men’s soccer is heating up in the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) and last weekend was no exception. One of the exciting teams in the highly competitive Southern California NPSL circuit is the Southern California Sports Club (SoCal SC).
Last weekend, SoCal SC displayed a powerful offense and managed to tie an action packed match against Oxnard Guerreros at the Fairplex on the clubs’ first-ever National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) match-up.
Unfortunately, earlier defensive mistakes nearly brought the team to a loss, but the players dug deep and tied 4-4.
With two wins, two losses and two ties on its first regular season matches, SoCal SC is the fourth placed at the West Southwest Conference with eight points. The Oxnard Guerreros come right after, at fifth, with seven points.
“Our offense is clicking with ten goals scored over the last three matches, but unfortunately our defensive mistakes costed us another win”, said SoCal SC’s Head Coach Daniel Musatti.
“We worked hard, controlled possession and built four goals, but in the other hand we gave four goals to them,” said Musatti. “We are trying to fix our defensive issues during our training sessions and also working on some different combinations to see if we can present a better performance. We are in a position where we still depend only on ourselves to advance to the playoffs and the next two matches are really important for us”.
The Oxnard Guerreros were the first to find the back of the net on the match with Raul Yepez scoring at the 25th minute. Before halftime, SoCal SC tied with forward Edmilson Santos shooting from outside the box at the 43rd minute.
On the second minute of the second half, captain Eric Gonzalez putted SoCal ahead with his fourth goal of the season. The visiting team, however, tied at the 61st. On a 25-yard free kick, midfielder Andy Contreras scored the home side’s third goal at the 65th.
Five minutes later, though, Wilton Quintero converted a PK to tie it again. SoCal SC got close of the victory 82nd minute, when Jorge Moreno scored on the rebound of a PK, but Quintero converted again from the penalty spot at the 87th minute to seal the result.
SoCal SC will have another home game this week as the team hosts Albion Pros SC on Saturday, April 29, at the Fairplex, at 6PM (PT). Tickets are already on sale.
