Soccer News: Kraze United Utilize U17’s, Finish The Weekend with 3 Points
National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) expansion team Kraze United (3-2-0) finished off its weekend trip to South Florida dropping the second of two games in three days 1-0 to Weston FC at South Broward College.
“To play two games on the road and get three points is always good,” said Kraze United head coach Joe Avallone whose team won 3-1 on Friday against Storm FC. “But we did not play up to our capabilities (Sunday), we had too many turnovers in the mid field.”
From the onset, Weston FC (1-2-0) used solid possession to take several chances on goal against the young Kraze United. However, the Kraze were able to hold their host scoreless in the first half, while themselves missing out on a couple scoring opportunities.
“Possession was not good for us today,” Avallone said. “We were playing too much on our heels and not playing aggressive in midfield. Leandro (Technical Director Leandro Amaral) and I feel there is a lot of work to do on possession. Even when we win a ball we are turning it over too easily.”
On the upside with several key older players missing, Avallone said he was able to get many of his younger players quality time on the field.
“We played two of our (Florida Kraze U17) players for a game and a half this weekend. (Sunday) we started 17-year-old Phil D’Amico in goal. I have no complaints about using the younger players, for us that is what the league is about,” Avallone said.
Despite the loss on Sunday, the Kraze remain tied atop the Sunshine Conference standings with nine points.
The Kraze head back to South Florida for its next game playing Miami United in Miami Beach on June 14. Kraze United beat Miami in their first meeting on May 23 in Orlando 2-0.
