NSCAA Announce Long-Term Service Awards Recipients
The NSCAA has announced the recipients of its Long-Term Service Awards as an honor to those who have provided service to the organization and the game during their career. The three honorees will be presented their award at the 70th NSCAA Convention held in Los Angeles in January.
Soccer News: The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) announced the recipients of its annual 2016 Long-Term Service Awards for college, high school and youth soccer. The awards are presented to association members who have contributed and provided service to both the NSCAA and the game throughout their career.
The three honorees will be presented their award at the NSCAA Awards Banquet on Friday, January 13th, 2017 at the JW Marriott Hotel in Los Angeles during the 70th annual NSCAA Convention.
Jeff Gettler, Richmond, Va.
Bill Jeffrey College Long-Term Service Award
Currently the Director of Coaching for the Richmond Strikers Soccer Club in Virginia, Gettler has made a major impact with service to the NSCAA and college soccer during a 39-year career as a collegiate head coach. His coaching resume includes positions at the University of Lowell (1976-77), Bates College (1978-81), the University of Massachusetts (1982-90), Lafayette College (1991-94), the University of Richmond (1995-2008) and Husson College (2010-15). Gettler was an original author of the NSCAA Coaching Academy curriculum and a former staff coach. He served a term as the Region Chair from New England on the NSCAA Board of Directors, was the Program Director for three NSCAA Conventions (1985-87) and has organized four NSCAA New England Regional Conventions. From 1995-98, Gettler was director of the Local Organizing Committee for four of the largest and most successful NCAA Division I Men’s Championships in Richmond. Gettler serves the NSCAA today as the National Chair of the Men’s Senior College Scholar All-America Committee.
Greg Mauch, Fort Wayne, Ind.
Robert W. Robinson Award High School Long-Term Service Award

Serving as the boys coach at Canterbury School in Fort Wayne, Indiana, since 1983, Mauch’s 38-year high school coaching record of 491-148-54 includes five state championships. He has been named the Indiana Coach of the Year on five occasions, an NSCAA Regional Coach of the Year twice and NSCAA National Coach of the Year for Private/Parochial schools in 1998. Mauch has served on the state, regional and national levels including 18 years as President of the Indiana High School Soccer Coaches Association and six years as the Boys High School Representative on the NSCAA Board of Directors. In addition, Mauch served on the NSCAA High School Long Term Service Committee for 18 years. He still serves on the NSCAA High School Scholar All-America Committee and currentely chairs the High School Assistant Coach of the Year Committee. Mauch has been the recipient of the NSCAA Certificate of Appreciation and was presented the NSCAA Letter of Commendation last year. He was inducted into the Indiana Soccer Hall of Fame in 2005.
Louise Waxler, Columbia, Md.
Charlotte Moran Youth Long-Term Service Award
Currently the Executive Director of McLean Youth Soccer in Virginia, Waxler’s career includes over 30 years of experience as an administrator in youth soccer as well as at the professional level. A member of the NSCAA since 1990, Waxler served many years as a youth soccer representative for the organization prior to being elected an officer in 2002. That culminated with her term as the Association’s 58th President in 2006, only the third female to hold that position at the time. Waxler has also been chair of the NSCAA Women’s Committee, a member of the Board of Governors and currently is the National Chair of the Youth Coach of the Year Committee. During her career she has been recipient of both the Women’s Award of Excellence and the NSCAA Letter of Commendation. Waxler began her career in the game in 1985 with the Soccer Association of Columbia as Director of the Columbia Invitational. She joined the Maryland SoccerPlex in as Program Director in 2005. She has held positions in professional soccer with both the Washington Freedom (WUSA) and the Philadelphia Independence (WPS) and was the Operations Director for the 2003 FIFA Women’s World Cup at RFK Stadium in Washington, D.C.
