Chicago Red Stars Top Sky Blue FC at Yurcak Field
Chicago Red Stars kick off the final stretch of the season after taking an international break for the 2016 Summer Olympics held in Rio. Christen Press and Sofia Huerta both tallied a goal late in the second half to push the Red Stars past Sky Blue FC in Week 16 of the NWSL season.

“Obviously, we are disappointed with the result,” said Christy Holly, Sky Blue FC head coach. “Now, we will dig into the film to find the positives and make sure this result does not define our season.”
Chicago that broke the deadlock in the 31st minute with Stephanie McCaffrey dribbling the ball from the right flank into the area. McCaffrey struck a ball over Sky Blue goalkeeper Caroline Stanley.
In the final stretch of the match, the Red Stars were able to extend their lead off a Christen Press finish in the 73rd minutes and a Sofia Huerta bury in the 80th minute.
Sky Blue FC were able to salvage a late goal in the fourth minute of stoppage time off a Leah Galton was able to cross a ball from the left side of the area that found the knee of Sam Kerr to place the final 3-1 score line.
Sky Blue FC travel for a Sunday fixture next weekend versus FC Kansas City. Chicago heads into Week 17 looking to extend their current four-game unbeaten streak against Seattle Reign FC on Saturday, September 4.
