Sky Blue FC Partner with New Jersey FootGolf
Sky Blue FC announce its most recent partnership with New Jersey FootGolf, which operates under the American FootGolf League (AFGL). Sky Blue FC and NJ FootGolf will host co-branded events in the future with its next tournament being held at Gambler Ridge Golf Club on Sunday, July 24th.
NWSL Soccer News: Sky Blue FC (4-4-4, 16 points) of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) announced today that it has created a partnership with NJ FootGolf, the official New Jersey governing body that operates under the American FootGolf League (AFGL).
“We are very excited to partner up with NJ FootGolf,” said Christy Holly, Sky Blue FC head coach. “This is a great opportunity for us to grow both our game and the sport of FootGolf. We are very fortunate in that one of the top FootGolfers, Mark Woodward, lives right here in New Jersey, and we look forward to working alongside him and the entire team at NJ FootGolf.”
FootGolf is a precision sport that is a combination of soccer and golf, and its rules largely correspond to golf. It is played on designated FootGolf courses, with participants trying to kick a soccer ball into 21-inch diameter cups in as few shots as possible.
“I am extremely excited for NJ FootGolf to be partnering with Sky Blue FC,” said Mark Woodward, President of NJ FootGolf. “To be recognized by our state’s professional women’s soccer team is a huge honor for us.”The mission of NJ FootGolf is to build, support and promote the sport of FootGolf in the State of New Jersey. It is played on AFGL-sanctioned courses throughout the Garden State, providing events, leagues, fundraisers and tournaments. NJ FootGolf works under the Rules and Guidance of the AFGL, which is the official U.S. member of the Federation for International FootGolf (FIFG).
NJ FootGolf hosts a series of tournaments throughout the year that are focused upon finding the best FootGolfers in the state, and it assists them in qualifying for the AFGL National Championships. Team USA won the FootGolf World Cup earlier this year in Argentina, defeating the host favorites in the Final, where Woodward and another NJ FootGolf member, Sean McNamara, were participants on the 16-player squad.
Sky Blue FC and NJ FootGolf will be working together on co-branded events in the future, and fans are strongly encouraged to stay tuned for details as those plans materialize.
“It bears mentioning that we have been on the FootGolf course with Woody before, and I do believe that I was the victor when we played against one another,” Holly laughed. “I am ready for round two whenever he is!”
NJ FootGolf is holding its next tournament at Gambler Ridge Golf Club on Sunday, July 24th, with divisions for pro, amateur, women’s, high school, youth and just for fun categories. Registration for the event is available now here, and some categories will have cash prizes awarded to winners.
