Sofia Huerta Named NWSL Player of the Month
Sofia Huerta of the Chicago Red Stars has been named Player of the Month for the second time in her NWSL career. The Player of the Month is selected by the NWSL Media Association, a collection of writers that cover the league on a consistent basis.

Huerta, 25, tallied two goals in four appearances during April, helping the Red Stars record two wins and two draws as they sit in second place with an overall record of 2-1-3. Chicago is five points out of the top spot in the standings.
Huerta scored twice in Week 4, notching her first goal against the Houston Dash on April 18th to secure a 3-0 victory. The Santa Clara product headed home a long-driven ball into the box by Danielle Colaprico to beat Houston goalkeeper Jane Campbell. Huerta’s second goal of the week against Sky Blue FC on April 21st was 44 seconds into the match, which is the fifth-fastest goal in NWSL history.
In addition to her pair of goals, Huerta also had six total shots on goal and created nine chances.
Huerta has been named NWSL Player of the Week on four different occasions and also earned NWSL Player of the Month in 2015.
